The JioFi is a portable broadband device that works with a Jio SIM. It allows 4G internet speeds on any device. It is important to be familiar with how to change Jiofi password to keep it secure since this device could be accessed by multiple users. That is at least 10 users and even more for some other models.
If you just got your JioFi, then it is wise to set a password. If you are already a JioFi user, then you probably are already sharing your connection with others. That said, then it is crucial for you to change your password every so often. You need to configure your JioFi dongle or router to keep it secure.
- 1 Change JioFi Password
- 2 Changing Default SSID
- 3 Change the JioFi device password and login ID
- 4 Reset Your Device to Factory Default
Change JioFi Password
1. Turn on your JioFi device
Of course, before doing anything, make sure your Jiofi is turned on. The name of the JioFi’s WiFi network and its password are written at the back of the device box or under the battery of the device. Nevertheless, the default username and password would be ‘administrator’.
2. Connect your JioFi to your device (a laptop, mobile phone, etc.)
Go to the wireless settings on your device and then encode ‘administrator’ in both the WiFi name and password.
3. Access the configuration interface on a web browser
Once connected, open any web browser. Go to the local domain name by typing “http://jiofi.local.html“ on the address box. If your device is a JioFi dongle, then go to “jiodongle.local.html” instead. Press “Enter”. You will land JioFi’s settings manager page.
4. Login to the interface
Once on the site, click ‘Login’. You will find this on the top right corner of the page. You will then be prompted to encode username and password. Again, use default password and username: “administrator”.
5.Change the WiFi password
Once inside, look for Network and click. You will then see the Wi-Fi Configuration. Click this. You will then see the Secure key. Type in your password and click ‘Save’ or ‘Apply’
Congratulations, you have just secured your device. Take note that once you change your password, everyone who is previously connected to your network would be disconnected. They will need to reconnect and use the new password.
Again, it is suggested that you learn how to change Jiofi password and do it often for further security. Meanwhile, choose a strong password. Combine lower-case letters, upper-case letters, symbols, and numbers to make a stronger password. Of course, be sure that you can easily remember this password combination.
Changing Default SSID
You have already secured your JioFi connection, but you may also want to customize your network’s name. You can make it more personalized, professional, or even funky, or whatever you want it to sound.
To change your network’s name, click on Network again. Then go to the Wi-Fi Configuration. Look for the Network Name (SSID) field and type in whatever name you want to use for your network. Like with changing the password, everyone connected to the network would be disconnected and will have to reconnect.
Change the JioFi device password and login ID
To make sure that no one tampers with your network details like password and name, it is best to secure your device further. Do this by changing the default login ID and password to the interface.
While you are still inside the interface, go to User Management. Then click on Account Management. Type in a new username and a new password. Confirm the password and then click “Save”. This will make sure that you are the only manager of your device.
Reset Your Device to Factory Default
Sometimes you might encounter a system error or you may have forgotten your password. This is, in fact, a common problem with Jiofi routers. If you encounter this, then hard resetting could save you. Here are simple steps that you could follow:
- Turn on your JioFi device.
- Remove the back cover.
- Look for ‘Reset’. This is often carved beside the WPS button. In some devices, it could be in a different place. Check Google to be safe.
- Using a pin, not a sharp object, press and hold for about 30 seconds.
- Wait until your JioFi router blinks. This means it is rebooting automatically.
- You may not connect your mobile device or computer to your Jiofi router. Open a web browser and go to the https://jiofi.local.html page to set your password and SSID.
Keeping your network secure is important. Changing the password is not the only way to do this. Meanwhile, knowing how to change JioFi password and reset your device would be very helpful when you encounter any problem.
