Every router has an IP address for the user to manage network settings and to configure a hotspot device. If you own a JioFi Router, then you may visit JioFi.Local.Html to change your jiofi password and username, among others. You can also use this to regulate the use of your router.

To open and make changes your router admin page, open a browser and type JioFi.Local.Html on the address bar; the buttons below directs you to JioFi website or 192.168.1.1. Once you are on the page, you will be asked to log in. If the default login is not in the box or beneath the router, then the common default for both username and password would either be ‘admin’ or ‘administrator’.
Once logged in, you could see the admin panel. Here, you have a list of items that you can change or manage. There are options to manage WiFi Network name, password, DNS, IP QoS, Proxy, WAN, LAN, security options, network management, WLAN settings, MAC, PPPoE, DSL, WPS, and DHCP client.
These options allow you to control who can access your network, how they can access your network, and how many could access your network. You can even block users or create a second network name.
Configure JioFi Device Via JioFi.Local.Html
- Start by opening a browser. Any browser would do, whichever you find comfortable to use.
- In the address bar, encode the URL.
- For JioFi Dongle users, encode http://jiodongle.local.html/ instead.
- You will be directed to the login page. Use the default ‘administrator’ as username and password.
- Press ‘Enter’ and you are in.
Change Network SSID
The first thing you may want to do if your router is new would be to change the WiFi name. To do this, go to Settings>WiFi. On this page, you will see SSID, this refers to your WiFi’s Network Name. The one users will see when they attempt to search for available networks. Type in any name you want on the box beside SSID.
Change Network Password
Of course, you don’t want just anyone to connect to your network. Keep your network secured by going to Settings>WiFi>Password. Change your password to something that cannot be easily guessed by anyone. Often, a combination of numbers, small letters, big letters, and symbols would make a strong password. However, make sure that the password is something that is easy for you to remember.
Change Device Username
To avoid others accessing your admin page and making changes via JioFi.Local.Html, it is also best to change the default username of your device. Go to Settings>User Management and change the default ‘administrator’ with any name you want. Change the password of the device too, so you can further secure your settings.
Be sure to save every change you make on the dashboard. Remember to change your password from time to time too. Take note as well that when you make changes in the SSID and password via JioFi.Local.Html, all those connected to the device prior to the change shall be disconnected. They will have to reconnect using the new credentials.
Reset JioFi Password via JioFi.Local.Html
Just in case you forget your JioFi username or password, there is no need to worry because you can simply reset your Jiofi device via JioFi.Local.Html. Do this by looking for a ‘Reset’ carved beside the WPS button.
This pin would usually look like a very small hole. Use a pin–not a sharp one–to press and hold the button for about 30 seconds or until the light blinks. Once this happens, that means your device is rebooting automatically. Once it turns on again, visit the JioFi website and reconfigure your network settings: change SSID and password.
Connect PC to JioFi Hotspot Device
Jio MiFi does not only provide WiFi access to the internet. Using the MicroSD slot, you can tether the internet to your PC. Take note that you can only connect one gadget as there is only one MicroSD slot on the device.
When the device is connected to the PC, it will not only provide internet connectivity, but it will also be charging. To boot, even when tethered to a PC, the WiFi connection would still be working, so others could still connect.
Use JioFi Device to Access MicroSD Card Slot (JioFi.Local.Html)
To begin with, you need to insert a microSD card in the device. Once the card is inserted, you must enable the storage account and set a username and password. When you have set these requirements, you can already access the files stored in your SD card through any device that is connected to the WiFi network.
To do this, open a browser and encode http://jiofi.local.html/sdcard.html on the address bar. When the page opens, click on the WiFI disk button, a new page will open, and you will be asked to enter the username and password that you have set. You now can manage the contents of your SD card: you may upload, download or delete files.
